Under 11 Coaches R9 Wrap

17 Dec 2023 by Amanda Beckett

The weather gods smiled upon us for this game – an idyllic Friday night down at the picturesque Edwards Reserve.

We knew Altona Sports White were going to be competitive as per our first game this season.

Gilbert embraced the captaincy role by winning the toss and electing to bowl.

We bowled reasonably well, picking up 5 wickets and not giving away too many extras but we did give up a few runs in overthrows, and in the end Altona Sports White managed a total of 129.

Atharv and Xavier got us off to a good start, followed by Owen and then Dylan who were able to up the run rate with some boundaries.
Owen launched the bowler back over his head for 6 and we were in a good position.

From there the run rate slowed down, but we were still making progress through Lennox, Beau and Jack.

Gilbert was last in and managed to hold his nerve under pressure and secure a win off the last ball.

Everyone has been great so far this season, the match day enthusiasm and work ethic at training has been paying off.

We get a well earned break until the end of January when the season resumes.
