Third XI R10

With a clear forecast predictited which proved to be anything but.
Winning the toss I had no hesitation in batting first. Imran and Rohan opened up the batted for us. We lost Imran early. Rohan looked to steady the ship with James in next the boys put on 38 before Rohan and James both fell in quick succession. Nathan was next in and didn’t last very long we were in serious trouble at 4-41 Liam and Cranny now really looked to save our innings and build towards a defendable total. But the boys looked untroubled as they both went about their business and had the Williamstown bowlers on the back foot the whole time they were together at the crease Liam falling for a well made 41. A 100 run partnership with Cranny. Mitch joined Cranny at the crease, pushed up the order for his pinch hitting abilities and made his way to a quick fire 15. Meanwhile Cranny brought up his 50. Mitch was next out which brought myself to the crease. Looking to get as many runs as we could and really set Willy a tough chase Cranny and I put on another 38 in quick time to have us 6-193.

With the rain constantly drizzling all day it was always going to be tough to bowl. But we had set a big target and we had a lot to play for. Jack Davies and Mitch opened the bowling some really good balls coupled with some not so good balls had Willy off to a little bit of a flier at 3-44 off the first 10 with jack taking all 3 wickets. James Stewart bowled an exceptional line and length and gave nothing away and was unlucky not to have a wicket 7 overs 0-25 were his figures. During the middle overs Willy seemed to be scoring very freely and it was anyone’s game at this stage. Taj picked up a wicket a great reflex catch by James in the gully. But the runs still flowed I came onto bowl and removed the Willy captain and broke the biggest partnership they had. From then on it was all about restricting boundary’s and bowling stump to stump. Kaillen did a big job bowling up the hill into the wind for 6 overs at the death. Going right down to the last over, the equation was Willy needing 20 runs to win. Mitch bowled a great last over only going for 7 with the field back and we ended up with a 13 run win. A great result which really keeps our season alive as we push for a finals birth.
