Round 2 Wrap – First X1
First home game of the year we hosted Taylor’s Lakes at home, we won’t the toss and decided to bat. We lost Jarryd early, but Lachie and Taylor put together a bit of a partnership together. Taylor and Jakson losing their wickets in quick succession had the team on top early on what was a pretty slow and tough wicket to start on. Declan and Lachie put together a partnership of 62 – Declan out for 37, this is where things started to unravel for us. Lachie has started the year really well but losing his wicket for 48 and the only other contributor for with the bat was Harvey Redpath ending up with a unbeaten 32 – we didn’t fire much of a shot with the bat finishing with 9/164 on the board.
Don struck early with the ball taking the first 2 wickets of the game having the away team 2/19 – but this is where our momentum would leave us for the day unfortunately. Taylor’s Lakes Skipper Stefan Robert’s played a hell of an innings to get his side over the line – as our line and length was weigh ward compared to our normal very high standard. Robert’s ending up with 88* as Taylor’s Lakes passed our score 4 down in the 36th over.
A pretty disappointing day for us all around, but we will reflect and move on as we look to bounce back hard this week at Port Melbourne away.
