U10s Round 3 Wrap!

vs Altona Cricket Club at Home

With two kids, George & Percy debuting tonight, captain for the evening Aryanjoy won the bat flip and chose to bat on a green deck and it proved a good decision. Luke and Edison opened the batting and got the team off to a good start, with both boys jumping on any wayward bowling. Ryan came in at three and seemed to be on strike a lot, getting through his allotted balls quite quickly, whilst keeping the scoreboard ticking over with some patented Ryan power hitting. Percy came in at four and after a watchful start opened his career run tally with a mighty four into the Spotty support crew. Our other debutant George came in at 5, and made a great 10 runs which might’ve been a bit more but for some very sharp Altona fielding. Skipper Aryanjoy was in at 6 and Ned in at 7 with both players combining well to ramp up the run rate at the back on the innings with a mix of power hitting and sharp running between the wickets to set a competitive total of 113.
With ball in hand Spotty kept the Altona run rate in check in the first few overs, not conceding too many runs whilst claiming a few wickets along the way. Some very crafty fielding saw the team combining for a clever run out at the non strikers end. Skipper Aryanjoy took two wickets in a row, very narrowly missing his hat trick to round out an impressive game by the skipper. Edison settled well in to his bowling taking two wickets with Ned and Percy also claiming a wicket each. The team put in a strong fielding performance, chasing hard to limit singles with Percy and Luke doing a great job as keeper and George showing great concentration in the field.
A strong performance with the ball against some good Altona batting kept the A’s to 100 runs and a narrow Spotty win.
