Third XI Round 3 Wrap!

The second of our 4 home games in a row.
Losing the toss, the Taylor’s Lakes captain opted to have a bat. Freddy and Kaillen opened the bowling for us. Freddy striking in his second over trapping one of the openers LBW. Some aggressive batting had us slightly on the back foot early. Before a lovely catch from Rohit at mid off gave Kaillen his first wicket of the day. Taylor’s Lakes were well ontop through the first 25 overs. Before Zack also trapped the batsmen infront LBW. The score at this stage was 3-106. Jesse Whitman was thrown the ball and in partnership with Maaz really brought the game back on even terms restricting the scoring and taking wickets in the process. Jesse ended up bowling out and finishing with figures 4-31 off 8 with two sitters going down very unlucky not to get his 5fa. Maaz at the other end picked up 1-33 off his 9.
Taylor’s Lakes set us a target of 181 to win
Our batting innings started strongly with Rohan and Varish opening up again. We lost Varish early a deflection in the slips. Before Rohan and Vinny settled and playing some nice cricket before Rohan was caught by another slips deflection. 2-60 and we are well in the hunt Vinny and Rohit consolidated before Vinny fell for 32. 3-84 at this stage.
A mix up saw Rohit run himself out. Now 4-97. A major collapse with some dissapointing cricket on our end saw us go from 4-97 to 8-102. With a win now unlikely Kaillen and Jesse got some valuable batting practice and kept the Taylor’s Lakes boys out there, Jesse taking 34 balls to get off the mark. Before Kaillen fell for 11.
Some nice hitting from Freddy got us to 120 all out. Another disappointing batting performance as a group we know we are a lot better then our last two performances suggest. We’ll look to bounce back next week again at home against Ivanhoe.
