Rd1 vs Williamstown.

We kicked off our season with a strong and confident performance, coming away with a comprehensive win against Williamstown in a one day game.

Williamstown won the toss and chose to bat first on a nice flat one. We knew early wickets would be key, and our opening bowlers toiled away without luck. At the end of the power play Williamstown were none for 56 and it looked like we could be chasing a big total if we didn’t wrestle this back a little. We thought we’d try and tighten it up and build pressure at both ends with spin. It seemed to work straight away with 2 wickets in the over. From there, the spinners continued bowling tight and threatening lines that kept the pressure on and created further chances, limiting Williamstown to 7/134 at the end of their 45 overs. Jayvier was excellent with his darts finishing 1/18 off 9 overs (Awesome economy for 1 day cricket) Zac and Liam did their job well.

With a target of 135, our top order stepped up confidently. The message was Be Positive, Be Ruthless but Not Reckless. Rohan was the anchor of the innings, finishing unbeaten on 51*, showing composure and class throughout. Liam supported well with a stylish 37, and Nav kept the scoreboard ticking with a handy 28.

We reached the target in just 23 overs, with only 2 wickets down – a commanding chase that showed our intent and depth with the bat.

Debutant, Harsh Verma also had a solid first outing for the club. He worked hard in the field and was out in the middle at the end, running between wickets that would have made Usain Bolt proud – a great sign of things to come.

Vishal Modi, also playing his first game for the club, had an excellent debut behind the stumps. He was involved in three key dismissals – a sharp catch, a clean stumping, and a heads-up runout. Great work, Vish!

A fantastic all-round team performance –some disciplined bowling, sharp fielding, and a confident batting display. Great contributions from our experienced players and 2 debutants. Some strong signs for the rest of the season.
