We travelled down to Loft reserve to take on Newport-Digman White. It was a sunny evening despite a chilly breeze and Arynajoy won the batflip and decided we were going to set them a target.
Despite us all being distracted by what was going with the Test in Perth, we remained focused with George and Emma getting us off to a good start.
The rest of our batters continued ticking it over with ones and twos while capitalising on running a few byes.
At this stage our score wasn't the most convincing, but we also hadn't lost many wickets which put us in good stead for Ned and Leo to come in and flip the script, plundering boundaries at will.
We set them a total of 5/134 and I was confident if we bowled and fielded well, we would get over the line. Top scorers were Leo 26 and Ned 17.
George and Raffy started us off well with wickets in their first overs, but unfortunately we gave away 4 overthrows again which we are getting better at but must tighten up in this area.
Emma and Ned bowled very tightly without taking a wicket and also Georgina, who was able to pick up her first wicket! Percy also bowled tightly, getting the opportunity to bowl 3 overs this game, he finished well taking a wicket off his last ball. Overall, our fielding was pretty good as we completed 5 run outs. I also have to say that Emma and Georgina's bowling has improved immensely considering they've only played 4 games of cricket, well done girls.
Newport-Digman White put up 9/109 in response, falling a few runs short despite it being a great competitive game and feeling a lot closer.
Our Stan's Grill award winner this week was Georgina with her first wicket and economical effort with the ball.
Next week we face off against Altona at Altona
