Match Report - Round 6 v Keilor CC

After a spate of horrendous weather, the weather gods smiled upon us and the Wolves lined up at home against an experienced Keilor side.

We lost the toss and were put in to bat. Sarah G and Megs got us off to a steady start with a 17 run partnership after 4ov.

Despite many of our batters retiring and spending good time at the crease, Keilor bowled well throughout the innings to keep it tight and The Wolves couldn’t get going as we would’ve liked. We finished up 7/94 after our 20ov thanks largely to Meg’s 15* off 13 balls and handy partnerships through the innings.

It was fantastic to see that all the ladies spent considerable time out in the middle and faced a lot of balls. Captain Brenda, Megs and Sarah G found the boundary, and the rest of the team ran well between wickets.

The second half started unbelievably well for us, as Stacey ‘Stackers’ Ansell cleaned up Keilor’s captain to take her first wicket in Spotty colours. The ball was as good as her custard square/vanilla slice!

Unfortunately the rest of the innings didn’t go as well, and Keilor’s power and experience prevailed. Striking 11 boundaries, they made short work of the chase and got the chocolates in 12ov.

Nevertheless, the game had many positives for Spotswood with nearly our whole team scoring with the bat and the bowling extras coming down to a season low 26.

Special mention to Stackers. Her goal at the start of the year was to score a single run and take a single wicket. She did both in one afternoon and showed a lot of Spotty spirit! Safe to say, Ms Ansell will need to set her sights on loftier ambitions.

The Wolves are learning and making rapid progress and the Coach couldn’t be prouder.

Standout bowlers:
Stacey Ansell - 1.2ov 1/9
Mia Wityk - 2ov 0/13

Standout batters:
Megan Knight - 15* off 13 balls
Sarah Grouios - 8 off 19 balls
Samantha McDevitt - 7 off 15 balls
Brenda Wityk - 6 off 10 balls
Stacey Ansell - 5* off 16 balls

We’ll be back bigger and better this Sunday against the Williamstown Imperials at home.
