Under 11 Green Rd10
What a finish to the first half of the season!
I think we finally learned what it means to bring all aspects of the game together and be truly competitive. Even though we only lost by 5 runs, the effort and growth on display were outstanding.
There were some very strong individual performances, particularly from Evan and Nate, who both top-scored with 15 runs each. With the ball, they tied Newport Digman down brilliantly through the middle of the innings. Evan finished with 2/5 off 4 overs, while Nate was outstanding with 5/8 off 4 overs, plus a run out, earning him the well-deserved “Stan’s Grill” Player of the Match. Uncle Roy would be looking down with pride.
In the field, the boys gave it everything and should be very proud of their efforts. Evan’s 15 came at a crucial time when runs were hard to come by and kept us in the game. Nate showed great confidence under pressure, coming in as the last batsman and scoring a quick 15.
Harrison was reliable and consistent, making smart decisions and supporting his teammates in key moments. Hunter impressed with his energy and enthusiasm in the field and behind the stumps, never giving up on a play. Ryan kept well until the heat got to him and, even though he wanted to stay out there, we had to send him home.
We only made 66, but the way the boys defended that total in hot conditions was awesome. Collectively, they worked as a team, and that made all the difference. I truly believe this performance is a stepping stone to bigger things in the new year.
I am so proud of you all, kids. You keep getting better every week and never give up. You’re a great bunch of cricketers—and an even better bunch of mates. I can’t wait to see what the second half of the season brings.
Go Spotty!
Coach Luke
